Re: [Thinkpad] Anyone using an IEEE-1394/Firewire PCMCIA card withT41?

Erase was attempted from the DFT with the 60GB but due to the firmware it
failed. Neat, eh?

As to the FDISK not getting rid of everything, true, but when the restore
not only formats the drive in FAT32 but then copies over more data than it
plans to keep (since it needs a workspace to work on) and then converts the
drive to NTFS, odds are everything is gone.

Anyway, here's a screen shot of my IEEE card plugged in
(http://www.starfire-inc.com/ebay/ibm_screen.jpg) and the drive NOT showing
up anywhere in Explorer. Please give me the benefit of the doubt that I
know how to plug in a FireWire cable and AC Adapter. And yes, the enclosure
works and the cable works because they've been tested on other machines.

I would also appreciate from this point on to be given the ability to tell
you to shove your restore discs, the next time you suggest them, because a)
it only wasted 2 hours of my time to prove a point and b) it's NOT always a
viable solution to EVERY problem and c) given my experiences with XP, and
that no extra IBM driver was offered or required, there was no reason to
think that it would help.

So, Mr. Restore, what would you do for your customer now?

The question still remains, thought: might there be something wrong with the
hardware or is it still thought to be driver related?
