[Thinkpad] new model pricing

Does IBM usually drop the prices of new models shortly after they are
introduced? Specifically, I'm thinking of buying an x40. They are not yet
widely available (some models are not available at all). Are they likely
to be much cheaper in the near term, once they are more widely available?
