I believe the 4K80 model line is newer than the 80GN model line from
Hitachi. Beyond that I do not know what might have actually changed.
The Hitachi web site has some good information that you can use to
compare specs. I believe the address is www.hgst.com.

If you're looking for a new notebook drive I'd recommend that you look
into a 5,400 RPM drive instead of a 4,200 RPM one. There is a
significant performance boost between the two for not too much more $$.
