I had a hard time even looking at your specs; The very mention of HP/Compaq computers makes me break out in hives!
But you didn't ask for opinions on brands, so...
I don't use XP at all (so take my advice with a giant chunk of salt), but I certainly read and communicate with enough people to
conclude that getting XP Home would be a giant mistake and that $75 to get Pro instead will be worth it many times over in the
future.
I also think the extra memory is definitely a good idea, that 256 is really the bare minimum for decent XP performance. Go for 512!
