Thanks for your reply. As for how often
I reinstall Windows, with my 770, just
before I bought my T21, I was reinstalling
W98 using the IBM recovery CD about once
every month or two, which was ridiculous.
I was also using the W2K recovery CD on
the T21 probably once every 3-4 months.

My T21 had problems with the HD and miniPCI
ethernet card right from the beginning.
I went through about 4-5 HDs because they
all clicked a lot. The last one actually
crashed on me after just a 2-3 months.
Every time except for the last, IBM sent me
a refurbished part as a replacement, which
I wasn't happy about.

I went through about 3 or 4 miniPCI ethernet
cards on the T21. After using each for a few
months, it would cause the system to hang
during booting. If I removed it from the
laptop, then the machine would boot.

A friend of mine whose company used to
only use Thinkpads said he and others at
the company were very unhappy with their
Thinkpads. After just a couple of months,
the machines would get very sluggish.
They switched to Dells, and although
the build quality is not quite as good
(e.g., keyboard, pointing device),
they are very happy with the Dells.

So I'm tempted to go with Dell.

Marvin
