Does that 'deal' just apply to you, or will IBM somehow be extending
that to the buyer?

I can certainly understand not wanting to lose much money on the deal.
That's perfectly logical. It just seems that you may have paid a
premium for a system that is selling for a lot less elsewhere. That
makes it tough to re-sell.
Did CDW do something that lead you to believe that Win2K would install
happily and fully function? If not, then contesting the CC charges may
not get you very far, unfortunately. Perhaps a better idea is to keep
the unit and get a different CD/DVD drive that is compatible. You
should have no problem selling the existing drive and will probably make
out a lot better than if you get rid of the whole unit. Or, ask the
list for help making the existing drive work correctly. That's a pretty
popular model and someone may have dealt with your issue.
