The 128MB module arrived and I just installed it into my 560X
(swapping out the 64MB module). It booted fine, noticing that it had
160MB of memory. Linux loaded and recognised the 160MB with no need
for any kernel "memory=160M" parameter (I'm using a 2.4.24 kernel).
Here is the nice output of the 'free' command (units are KB):
$ free
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 159764 103668 56096 0 8540 57676
-/+ buffers/cache: 37452 122312
Swap: 1028120 0 1028120
The X server worked fine too (I was worried about that point because
of the memory address changes needed for Windows 9x).
I am looking forward to many years of life left on the 560X now that
it has a lot of memory to use as a disk cache (not least because I
much prefer a silent laptop).
