My machine is an X31/Windows XP-SP1 with all the latest patches (MS, drivers
from IBM). Machine had been running Lotus Notes 6.5.0 (and Skype .96) with
no problems.
Installed Notes 6.5.1 and it doesn't work. After much testing, figured out
that nothing seems to actually come out of the machine to transmit to the
Notes server. (All firewalls are off (internal) or forced open (external)).
Obviously must be a Notes problem, right.
Except, installing new version of Skype (.97) does exact same thing.
(However old version of Skype (.96) runs on machine while Notes 6.5.1
doesn't.) Notes 6.5.1 installs on T40 with XP and runs fine (as well as on
T40 with W2K, Dell desktops with XP and W2K). Running the TCP reset (netsh
command) written up in MS technote doesn't help nor does reinstalling the
IBM driver. Uninstalling Notes (and Skype) and going back one version and
every thing works fine. (Notes 6.5.0 and Skype .96)
Stand alone diagnostics on network card (Intel Pro/1000 MT Mobile) work fine
(PC Doctor and an Intel diagnostic). However, if I run the SiSoft Sandra
network bandwidth benchmark under XP, I get >90% packet loss. I also
switched network ports and cables.
All of this seems to point to some XP or driver problem unique to the X31
that shows up with Notes 6.5.1.
Anyone have any ideas (other than wiping XP and reinstalling
everything--something I don't look forward to. Especially since there's no
guarantee that will fix it.
All suggestions are welcome.
Tearing my hair out,
Robert
