Hopefully this will get fixed, either by patching AC or by an update of
your device drivers. IBM is usually pretty good about getting this
stuff working.

In the old days ATI drivers came in two chunks, and you could relatively
freely swap versions of the chunks in and out to attain better
stability. We used to swap our drivers on one machine just for one
game. I don't know to what extent this holds for the newest chipsets.
There are several ATI enthusiast websites devoted to keeping track of
this kind of thing; two that come to mind are http://www.rage3d.com/ and
http://www.rageunderground.com/
