[Thinkpad] still no luck with T22 DVD driver

when my T22's new hard drive arrived without a recovery CD I
went ahead and installed W98 from an old CD I had lying around,
and updated most everything via the web. most everything, that
is, but the DVD software. the CD works, but won't play DVDs.

well, I finally got the recovery CD from IBM today (another long
story) and lo and behold, the only way it works, apparently, is
by reformatting my entire HD. (I knew that the only way to put
W98 on the thing was by reformatting, but somehow thought there
might be a separate CD containing only drivers.) I wouldn't
mind if I all had was that installation of Windows98 on it, but
of course, I have put spent a considerable portion of the last
week and a half tailoring a new installation of OS/2 to my
satisfaction.

Jim Maugham posted a pointer to an ISO image containing
DVD-Express, but this didn't do the trick -- perhaps because it
didn't have drivers to make the DVD part of my hardware work.
it's a

        MATSHITA DVD-ROM SR-8175

according to Windoze hardware manager.

is there any way to get the DVD function of this drive working
without reformatting the whole damned HD or am I SOL?
