That is one of the reasons, because the 560X only has 2MB video memory,
it will struggle with the fancy XP interface which is somewhat
cumbersome at 800x600 anyway. I use Windows XP Professional on my T23
(Pentium III-1.13GHz, 512MB, XGA display) and I still use the 'classic'
interface as you get more on screen. So thats one reason.

Also, Windows XP does have a lot more stuff than Windows 2000 does,
which still has a bit of a raw edge to it like NT 4.0 which XP smooths
over. My experience would suggest on a Pentium 233MHz MMX, Windows 2000
is your best bet.

Is there any real reason for using XP over 2000?

Also something worthy noting, XP is a bit of a tweak upgrade. Windows
2000 was the biggie - as that was NT 5.0 (upgrading from 4.0), XP is
also known as NT 5.1 so its just an incremental update.

I'd say the minimum to use Windows XP would be a Pentium II-366MHz and
128MB minimum. I say this because my 128MB ThinkPad 560Z (Pentium II
300MHz) which did have Windows XP pro before I put Windows 2000 Server
on it, was a bit of a dog, but Windows 2000 Server which is more
powerful than XP Pro with more bits and pieces runs fantastic.

So my recommendation is Windows 2000 professional, and besides, its
quite cheap these days for the CD and license; and still got a lot of
support life left in it.

Vicky
