[Thinkpad] a20m- startup issues

Hi,

thank for help last time. As instructed, I unplugged my cmos battery,
checked everything. Did not work so i ordered a new battery. It arrived in
the mail, and before I could put it in, a20m booted up.

Now it boots up with new battery 50% of the time, but is still not
consistent, AND it NEEDS the a/c power connected for it to boot up. Once it
starts, I can have 100% of battery life. Weird?

Any thoughts? Is it the system board or just power circuitry?
