[Thinkpad] 390e stuff

I've been storing up these questions for awhile. I just found this list so
there's some pend up demand operating here...

1) thinking of getting a 2nd HHD ultrabay adapter for my computer. Almost
every thing I see is ultrabay 2000 but I need the ultrabay FX, correct?
Anyone know where I can get one?

2) can the laptop boot off the 2nd HHD if it's in the ultrabay? I have 2
HDDs, each with different OS and aps loaded. I'd like to be able to switch
back and forth between the two without having to swap out the HDDs.

3) I've heard not to ungrade the 390e's HDD to larger than 12g because it'll
fry by generating too much heat. Is this accurate? Is there any workaround?

4) I purchased a new battery, it was good for 4-5 uses of around 5 hours.
The next use was between 5-15 minutes as has each subsequent use. I heard
this laptop eats batteries. Is that the case, or did I just have a faulty
battery.

5) The hinges on Old Bertha are in sorry shape but the rest of her is going
strong. Have superglued the front of the hinge where it had split from the
case and then superglued a small square of plexiglass from the back of the
hinge to the case to give it some added stability. Can the hinges be
replaced easily? Is there a way to lube the hinges to reduce the wear and
tear?

6) I'd love to hook up a second monitor and have it work independently so
that I could use two screens without having one be a carbon copy of the
other. Is this doable? I've got the latest bios that IBM supplies.

7) I'm also having difficulty getting the IR to work to work with my PDA,
tho it has in the past. I've got a USB hub, nothing on the parallet or
serial ports, and an internal modem. I know the various ports correlate to
different IRQs. I'm showing the internal modem using Comm port (Com4) and
3RQ 4 and the IR using IRQ 4. Does anything look problematic in the setup.
Any suggestions?

Think that's it,

Eli
