As Liz says, make sure you have the official version of 1.6 and not
a release candidate. If you have the stock 1.6, you can do some
experimentation. Try Mozilla 1.7 RC2, and find mozilla-firefox.
Firefox is a browser-only version of Mozilla, missing the kitchen
sink (and news, email, etc). You might want to get the memtest86
program and run that for a while. I have never heard of Mozilla
freezing on a Windows machine before, that didn't have bad
memory, so check that out. Its not impossible to have bad
memory that only clobbers some programs.

I think someone might have mentioned Opera. The slightly older
6.x versions work very well on older hardware. Version 7.5 seems
to be more of a pig, but probably still less so than IE.
