Hi all,
As we all know Thinkpads are great, otherwise we wouldnt use them, BUT
we all know that MS isnt so great!! unfortunately.
Ive been trying to find an alternative that will work out of the box so
to speak on my Thinkpads.
A short while ago a friend lent me a copy of the current os version of
Lindows for laptops.
I was bored the other evening and put a spare HD into my TP A21P to see
what would happen.
I booted of the cd rom and within half an hour I had the os installed.
It found the right settings for the video chip, sound cd rom floppy as
well as my isdn ext modem, it was simple to set up my isp details ,
email accounts and newsgroups.
Within a couple of hours I was up and running with everything except the
DVD player. thisI found was an optional extra available from the
Linspire( itsnew name) website.
So im learning now to use it. From what I have gleaned so far its
great, stable much better than what I had on here before. IE win 98se..
As of now i can reccomend it as a viable alternative to 98se.
Ill be trying it on a 600e later this week. Will keep you all posted
how that goes .
Anyone else tried thisos on Thinkpads?
Regards,
ted frater Dorset UK.
