Hello,
Ok, now I'd love to be proven wrong...
But you will likely NEVER get any version of Windows NT (thats right,
3.1, 3.50, 3.51, 4.0, 5.0 (2000), 5.1 (XP) or 6.0 (Server 2003) to work
on a PCMCIA Flash based system be that an original Type II PCMCIA Flash
card or a COmpact Flash via adapter (they are the same, just smaller).
It's not an issue of the size of the beast, it's just impossible from
what I understand of NT architecture to install NT to a flash disk in
the PCMCIA slots.
It should be possible with using an IDE->CF adapter card, and a CF card
on that.
I am presently using Windows 3.11 For Workgroups on the 350MB PCMCIA
TypeII ATA Flash card, you may laugh but it actually has worked out
superbly for this solid state system, which is now sprayed metalic
jade.... :-) It is a 560X.
As I understand it, Windows 9x and Win16 are the limit for PCMCIA flash
systems, and with Win 9x it is hit and miss as it sometimes resets the
PCI bus, read PCMCIA, when searching for new devices; which essentially
messes up the install/load of Windows from PCMCIA flash, much like
taking out the hard disk while Windows is loaded, it suddenly can't find
it....
