My impression -- from the Hardware Maintenance Manuals and other listmembers -- is that it
is important not only to fasten everything, but also to use the correct screw in each
spot, and to make sure there are no loose bits rattling around inside.
Getting rid of a computer rather than buying a few screws sounds a little shortsighted to
me, but if you are really looking for an excuse to ditch it and buy another, maybe you
should go ahead and get a new one. I still think it would be worth the price of the screws
and <30 minutes work to get the 390E working to have as a spare or to sell.
