It can run any size drive. I've used a 48GB in mine. Haven't tried an 80GB
yet but I doubt it there will be any problem. You don't need a software
overlay as Vicky mentioned.

Not a bad idea, but I would upgrade the BIOS first.
I would also download Drive Fitness Test from www.hitachigst.com and run the
Advanced test on the drive. It surprises me that Win98 would work and
Win2000 wouldn't, unless it's either because of the old BIOS or because
there's a bad spot on the drive that Win98 didn't happen to hit but Win2000
did.
