I don't consider it an accomplishment, more a case of not having an A series
Thinkpad and not being completely familiar with it's workings.

I have a T30 docked in the A/T/X docking station, 2631-20U:

I live out in the boonies and the lights often flicker. When they do, anything
connected to the dock or in the Ultrabay will of course shutdown, as does the
dock itself. But the T30 happily keeps running on it's internal battery until
the power returns.

Are you saying this is not the case with the A3x machines? Or is it a case of
the machine locking up because it has not been "correctly" undocked when it
senses the power failure?

Didn't mean to be glib in my response. If you want the dock to continue to run
when the power fails, you will of course need a UPS.
