Hello thinkpad,
first: i like to buy a really silent notebook. I like the idea to have
a small device so the X-Series of IBM looks fine. The T-Series looks
really great too so i'm a bit confused
Priority is to have a silent system. The fan should not run while
surfing the internet or checking mails. It should depend on running on
batterie or DC - i should be silent in any way.
The questions are:
- Are the X31 and X40 really silent? On Batterie AND on DC?
- The notebooks comes with 40 GB HDD (normally). But i've heard that
there are many tools and a second OS installed in hidden Partions. So:
How many GB are free for MY software/data after i have installed
WinXP?
- Which device would you prefer? The X31 because of the 2,5" drive,
CF-Slot, longer batterie life? Or the X40 because lighter, a bit
smaller, reduced height (at the front)? I have to say, that i could
use the CF-Slot (i have a microdrive and a digicam with CF-Cards) but
i have an PC-card-Adaptor for this right now which is working fine
too. I don't have Firewire-Devices so this is neither a PRO nor a CON
for me
- HOW silent are the X31 and X40 really? I've read something about
static noise (high frequencies etc.) with the X40?
- Are there ANY noise when the devices are in StandBy? (Shut the Lid
to have the device in standby should NOT make any static noise)
- Is there Bluetooth available in X31 or just with X40? I think IR are
available for both?
- Because i will need a DVD/CDRW-combo (or a DVD-RW) i will buy a
Ultrabase too for the notebook. So same question about size, Pro/Cons
for the X3 and X4 ... i've seen the X40 with X4 and it's still really
small and light. What about the X31+X3? Any known Problems with the
UltraBase?
Thank you VERY much for reading this whole stuff :-) and maybe you can
"answer" some of them to help my finding my notebook... I'm still not
100% clear if i should buy a X31 or X40 or maybe go for a T41p or
something with SXGA+ resolution and optical drive build in...
