interesting and helpful. However I have a problem. My 770x's backlight has
failed. I'm just wondering if there's anyway to diagnose whether its the
light itself(expensive) or the inverter(cheap). Does anyone know the output
from the inverter? I've read all the fru documentation but to no avail.

Hi Andy.

I believe you should find that the voltage is roughly in the neighbourhood
of 600-1000 Volts, taken from the Invertercard output.

If it *is* the backlight though. It doesn't have to mean, that you have to
change the entire LCD-unit.
Getting a used LCD-unit is a cat in the bag, because the backlight is a used
one too.
No....If it is the backlight, I would definately seek out a new CCFL-tube
and swap it.

I wish you the best of luck.

Cheers too, mate :-)
