Hello:
The point of this question is to remedy a situation where the initial
detection process (i.e. upgrade from NT -> W2K) incorrectly assigned
resources, i.e.
an IDE adapter is identified as a generic SCSI adapter.
The problem is that the SCSI adapter adapter removal box is greyed out so
that it cannot be removed. I was thinking of the following options:
1). Import all the hardware resources from a clean install, i.e. I have a
fresh install of W2K for the same hardware where everything is as it should
be. Say, I could import that particular section of the hive from the
registry and move over the appropriate driver files.
2). Force a Hardware detection by removing files from the ./inf
subdirectory. As there certain files I should focus on which apply to
motherboard resources, i.e. machine.inf, etc.
