I am runnintg Fugawi (mapping and Gps tracking program on my TP 390E with
192 meg mem and a P2 333 mhz.This works fine.You can buy Fugawi for around
$100 and nautical charts can be had for $8.50 /chart or $100 for a Cd with a
particular region (multiple charts of geo area)
Sea water will reck a laptop if it gets wet,so you need to protect it some
how.Just from moisture in the air you probably would not get more then 3 - 4
years,you idea of an older machine is sound thinking.
