Subject: [Thinkpad] Thinkpad 600E crashed with 00174 error
      Hello,

I have a thinkpad 600E which has crashed completely.
    - When I turn it on, it gives me an error code of 174,
then goes into the hardware diagnostic mode where i
can select to test or restart.
    - If I restart, it gives me 174 error code and points
    to an IBM Manual (funny).
    - If I select to test all hardware, everything tests
OK but then gives me the same error code when restart.

    Can somebody please help me.

    - The last thing I was using the PC before it crashed
was running the Mcafee virus scan because it seemed
that the laptop had the MSBLAST.EXE virus. The next
thing I know, I got a blue screen indicating a memory
    dump.
    - Is this a hardware or a software problem? What is
000174. Internet sites have it as configuration error.
    - Is my hard drive gone? How do I check that. The test
    said it was ok.

What are some of the steps I can take to determine
