[Thinkpad] Windows XP SP2

This may be a little off topic but it does relate to ThinkPad's in a
roundabout way. I installed Windows XP Service Pack 2 on my TP600X 2 days
ago and so far there's been no problems at all. My machine is a standard
600X with a PIII 500, 32GB H/D, 576MB RAM, and Windows XP Pro. The install
was painless with no hiccups. Upon reboot I noticed a couple of subtle
changes, first was the splash screen booting into Windows, gone was the
"Windows XP Professional" screen replaced with a rather generic looking
"Windows XP" screen denoting no edition type (Pro or Home). Once booted into
the Windows GUI I was confronted with a "Security Center" window with
information about the firewall, Windows updates, and antivirus status. It
was smart enough to recognize my Zone Alarm Pro and to not automatically
turn on the Windows firewall, it reported all was well in that arena. Next,
it complained that I had Windows automatic updates turned off and
recommended that I turn it on...I didn't but I did set it to alert me when
some were available. Lastly, it recognized my Symantec Corporate antivirus
software but reported that it couldn't check its status...a quick trip to
Symantec's website found an update patch that fixed the problem...it now
states that the software is up to date and protecting the computer. The last
obvious change that I can see is the Wireless Network Connection
application, it has changed at least graphically...I use the D-Link app that
came with my Wi-Fi card and don't use the Windows version and can't report
on it's effectiveness. I have read several articles about total chaos after
installing this service pack but I have not experienced one bit of trouble
so far. I haven't seen any software conflicts and no networking
glitches...as far as my satellite connection with Wi-Fi is concerned. So
from the desert plains of Afghanistan I can give the update a thumbs up,
hope this info can be of use and help someone make a decision on the big
update.
