Why wouldn't it be covered? The warrantee is 3 years, and goes with the
machine. This is one of the reasons ThinkPads are more expensive than
the competition, and the warrantee duration is one of the things you pay
for with the T series.

It would only cease to be covered if the port is physically damaged, and
IBM insists it is user-inflicted.
