Hello,

I bought a new 60 GB HD to replace the 30 GB HD in my IBM Thinkpad R40
2722-3GG.
Now I want to install Windows XP on the new harddisk via the four
Recovery CD's that I received from IBM.
Will these Recovery CD's create a HPA partition on the harddrive ?
Do I need to partition the drive for this or should the drive contain to
partitions ?
I tried it boths ways (I partioned the drive with fdisk from Knoppix
3.5) and both times I don't get a working Windows XP Installation!
After I installed from the CD's and I restart and go to restore from
factory defaults I get the following message after some time "Error
#1802 Image File is invalid or corrupted". The installtion continues
after a reboot, but it doesn't result in a working Windows XP
installation.
Can anyone give me a hint on what I need to do to get a Working XP
installation on my new harddrive with the Recovery CD's ?

Bye,
Henning
