Hello all
I have not found any large cheap (2Gb) cards for my 560.
So I decided to figure out why my 560 won't recognize 2 large CF cards
at once.
If I have my 1Gb Toshiba CF card as D: the computer doesn't show a 512
Mb Sandisk CF card in the second slot.
If I click on the PC card icon in the tray I see both cards but Windows
explorer only shows D:
In a DOS window "E:" gives "invalid drive".
A Sandisk 15 Mb CF card shows up fine and the 512 Mb card works fine by
itself.
A Sandisk 80 Mb CF card works in the second slot as does a Sandisk 175
Mb PCMCIA card (former Omnibook C: drive).
My question is:
Is this an inherent shortcoming of WIN98 or is there something wrong?
My other 560 with Win2K shows both large cards with no problem.
Perhaps another reason to upgrade to Win 2K?
I have observed that the cards that work with the Toshiba 1 Gb card are
all identified as "ATA FlashDisk" but the 512 Mb card (that doesn't
work) is identified as "IDE/ESDI hard disk controller"
Perhaps WIN98 can't imagine more than 2 IDE devices and Win2K can?
Comments?
TIA
