Don't assume that!
Using the A30p, go to http://www-3.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/warranty/warranty.vm and
let it detect the machine and serial numbers (or if using a different computer, enter the
info from the label on the bottom of your TP). It will tell you your warranty status. You
do not have to be the original owner.
Do it ASAP!!!
