It depends on what your priorities are. IMO, simplicity is a good one. It
matters most when dealing with large files (like video) and when restoring
from backup. I use one large partition. Keep backups, even if that means
"just" copying data files to another machine on your network.

Again, a matter of priorities. If you've got a license doing nothing, use
it. W2K is a bit quicker and every bit as stable. WXP has some new eye
candy, but has the (IMO) excellent wireless zero config service, and the
new integrated security.

WXP's supported life span will end later than w2k. If you don't already
have a license, they are priced about the same, but usually w2k is a
dollar or two more for some reason.

Check IBM's support site to see what they have WRT OS installation. It can
make the install go much more smoothly by having the OS work with some
devices right away. That can be very handy.
