it might ...might see it as 128MB chip.
I'd be very surprised if it saw it as a 256MB chip as it's a high density .
What you have in your hand is a very rare chip that might work on 2-or 3 laptops...maybe .
( the combination of PC100 and 512MB might work on a couple of Amd K6 - 500 ish machines )
Your Intel chip set (440BX ) supports PC100 and max 256MB Dimms.
The PC133 speced chipset ( 830MP etc ) support 512MB Dimms but most Bios don't.
A proper Bios interogates the SPD chip on the Dimm and simply slows down the memory timming to accomodate PC100.
Well at least on paper. ;-}
