[Thinkpad] Charging problems with i1200?

Hello all
My brother is reporting charging problems with his i1200.
He says sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Sounds like mechanical damage to the charging port to me, I'm going to
ask if wiggling the plug helps.
I could also send him one of my spare 560x chargers, not enough watts to
run the CD drive but it should charge the battery when the machine is
off (assuming his adapter is bad).
Any other thoughts?
Do the i series have any known issues with charging?
