Hey all. I have an IBM Thinkpad 600X. It's running
WinXP Pro. My problem is that the trackpoint shoots
wildly across the screen at the slightest touch. I
think the solution is to disable my trackpoint and
just use the PS2 mouse instead. I downloaded the
latest thinkpad configuration utility for XP
(http://www-306.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4ZFRG3)
and clicked "disable trackpoint". After a reboot
(with the PS2 mouse plugged in) it still has the same
problem. I've also updated the BIOS to ITET55WW
(which I believe is the latest as well). I then
rebooted and got to "Easy Setup". I looked for an
option that would let me disable the trackpoint but
couldn't find anything like this (IBM's documentation
made it seem like there would be some kind of mouse
option under config).
Is this a laptop that simply needs to be replaced?
Thanks in advance for any help.
