OK, here is something interesting.
I tried Dave's idea, having saved the suspect Word file on my ramdisk, which I always use
for a scratchpad.
I cannot open the file if it is saved in the ramdisk, by first running the viewer and then
pointing it to the filename on the ramdisk.
However if I copy it to my hard drive, I can open the file if I open the viewer, then point
it to the filename on the hard drive (C:\TEMP)
Another datapoint on the same phenomenon:
If I open MyComputer/[RamdiskObject] I get an Explorer has performed an illegal
operation message.
For some reason the S: drive object is seen as illegal or inaccessible.
I am using Uberto's XMSDISK for the ramdisk.
Can anyone explain what is happening and suggest a fix?
