I just re-read the 600x user guide, but it has no mention of such an
option. I do remember seeing one in there though... at least I thought it
was on my 600X.
In any case, you do need a new TrackPoint, and the easiest way to get one
of those is to get a keyboard assembly. You can get them on eBay for about
$50. I got one from a local shop for $50 that looked and smelled like it
was new. A keyboard assembly from a 600 or 600E should work as well, but
it won't say 600X on the bezel.
Use the hardware maintenance manual and work on a big clean surface, and
as long as you can handle a small philips screw-driver, you should be able
to replace it yourself.
