[Thinkpad] Re: [OT] Monitoring network activity on a Thinkpad T20

Lots of good suggestions from a number of folks. What I'm looking for is a
tray icon, like the one you can have with NT/XP.

The ZoneAlarm suggestion looks as if it will fill the bill, but I haven't
tried it yet. The last time I tried the personal (free) version of ZA, it
wouldn't allow me to communicate to our LAN, but I will try the latest and
see what happens.

Thanks to all for the help! If anyone already knows of a tray icon
solution, please let me know.

Try Netpersec at http://www.techboard.net/showthread.php?p=30

Shareware TCPVIEW

With the free version of Zone Alarm, the desk tray icon changes
from ZA in yellow and red to a black+green+red thingy when there's
internet traffic. Oh yes, also includes a firewall.

OK this works but the display is too large to leave on the screen. Maybe
you should try MyVitalAgent which has a much smaller and much more
configurable display. It is really terrific for freeware. Available
from
Download.com or I can send offlist to anyone who needs (about 1 mb).
