I don't know about the arithmetic, but it is not difficult
to steal a password. I now ignore all messages purportedly
from ebay, but I examined a few that were phoney account renewal
messages from other addresses that merely looked like ebay.
Send out a few thousand such bogus messages, and miscreants are
bound to harvest a few passwords.
