Jeffrey
I've been having similar freezes on my 560x (Win98SE Lite).
I was getting the blue screen of death several times a day usually while
in Netscape 7.01.
I tried the registry cleaner tool from jv16PowerTools with no success
Then I tried Win98 Lite's "configure windows" option.
First I went through and had 98 Lite remove all the optional parts of
Windows. Then after rebooting and shutting down I went back and
reinstalled all the options.
I did get a warning that one file I was replacing was newer than the
replacement, corrupted or infected perhaps?
Anyway I had the "newer" file replaced and haven't had a crash since
(almost a week now).
I'm afraid this isn't much use to you in your current situation but if
you do have to reinstall I'd suggest having a look at <www.litePC.com>.
Just not having windows scripting host on my computer makes me feel more
secure...
