Hello All
I got a message from a friend in Saskatchewan asking for help in
reviving an i1200 model 1161-43u.
I don't know where he got the idea that I knew anything about Thinkpads...
Can anyone point me to a source for the proper restore disks?
I'm assuming it's too late to call IBM (although they might be happy to
get rid of the Windows ME disks).
Is it possible that the recovery partition might still be there?
Maybe I should suggest trying F11 (?) on start up?
Thanks
-- Andrew in Ann Arbor technology is the answer, what was the question? Original request for help: I've been trying to do clean install of 98SE, 98ME, and W2K for her but Windows always halts during install and microsoft suggestions are: - underclock the ram/CPU/cache (not an option on the thinkpad bios) - try changing the ram (again can't since it's built-in) - defective mainboard (seems unlikely since I've seen the machine run smoothly with a generic Windows install) I think it's just that the Windows installation is too sensitive to the CPU/ram settings. I found I was able to successfully do a ghost of a Windows image onto the thinkpad, but unfortunately too many of the specialized aspects of the thinkpad cannot be recognized (keyboard, sound, etc) I have spent days downloading every thinkpad driver and there are still a few that just won't take. So unless I can find a Windows image with the right thinkpad drivers embedded, then her laptop will end up with a few devices unsupported.... _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list Thinkpad@stderr.org http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpadReceived on Thu Sep 16 13:48:46 2004
