I can sympathise with you here a bit, I'm not sure if you are in the US or
UK or so forth, but if you don't have the on site warranty for your ThinkPad
in the UK, you are required to drop it off at DHL yourself and collect it by
default from them, which can really suck if you are not close to a depot.
Also, they haven't always been very prompt (sometimes up to a week to phone
me back on filed requests) but OTH have managed to always come through with
the goods.
As for them not having an SXGA+ screen for your T23 till February seems
somewhat crazy; I can only presume there must be some significant difference
between the SXGA+ units in the T30 and T4x series which have that option
too. I too have such a T23 (a 2647-9KU) and if my screen were to suffer
issues and I were told to wait till February, I wouldn't be very happy
either to say the least. Also, I would find it nigh on impossible for my
computer (and my T23 *is* my computer, I do not have a desktop or the need
for one with this beauty) to have an XGA display now, having experienced the
full delight of an SXGA+ LCD.
Good luck, and I just hope that in the meantime EZ-Serve/IBM can locate your
machine's whereabouts OK, and come up with the goods and soon.
