Here is the trick:
Buy one of the onmi antennas with the pigtail connector. Hawking makes one.
Mount it on the wall, preferably in the general direction you are aiming at.
Tape a square of ALUMINIM FOIL on the wall behind the antenna, which bounces
the signal back off the foil into the desired direction,
Now I know this sounds nuts, but it works!!!!!!!!!
I now get a strong signal in a room that was deaf before.
Depending on your arrangement, you may be able to just do the foil trick on
the wall behind the router and not bother with the extended antenna.

Greetings All,

While in Best Buy the other day I happened to see a pair of replacement
antenna's by and for Linksys wireless routers. Sure, I'm familiar with
antenna gain but these puppies were 69.00, 20.00 higher than a current model
Linksys wireless router itself!!!

Has anyone had any experiences with these or other brand, supposed "hy-gain"
antennas?

The reason I ask is that when I am hard wired to my router with my A30p,
various speedtest sites agree I'm obtaining upper 500kbps speeds down. When
I connect to the router wirelessly, my speeds drop to around 140kbps.

There's one 4" total thinkness interier wall, sheetrock covered one side,
panneling on the other, between my router and A30p, and about 25' distance.
The Router is sitting on a shelf about 7' from the floor and about 10" from
this wall.

Running Windows 2000 by the way.
