While troubleshooting a Thinkpad (R31) for a friend (for a child studying
overseas) I did a clean install of the OS. (Win XP home)
Is there an easy way to restore the students network & IP service provider
settings from bckd up configuration info
(for a variety of reasons I'd prefer to not use the old registry & config
files enmasse)
The student is in Japan and not particularly technically inclined so there
is a bit an impasse when they communicate with the schools IT techs and it
would be nice if when the box shows up all they had to do was jack it into
the wall
I'm not overly familiar with XP (or IE for that matter) and have no
realistic way of testing anything I try on this end (and the various things
I was able to fix have left me in a brain freeze mode . . . hence the rather
unfocused appeal)
any suggestions would be gratefully reviewed
thnks
