Over the last week I'd been having a problem with IBM Update Connector
(version 5.02). *Every time* I booted up the machine, the Update
Connector would start up, then - when I told it to go ahead and
connect - find and apparently download an update for my modem driver.
However, it would not give me the option of installing this update, and
then it would repeat the process next bootup. (Really this is two
problems, the repeated autostart and the non-installation of the
driver.)
I thought maybe a reinstallation and/or upgrade of the UC would solve
the restart problem, so I downloaded the new version (6.10), uninstalled
the old, and installed the new. On this version I was unable to contact
the IBM Helpcenter at all. I've tried downgrading back to 5.02, and now
that version won't contact the Helpcenter anymore.
Of course, I can just go back to downloading and installing updates by
hand, but I rather liked the UC when it was working, and there are
evidently lots of updates out this month for this machine.
Any suggestions? (In particular, does anyone know if the HelpCenter is
still there?)
