To bring this matter to a pleasant close, at a list member's suggestion
I used Acronis True Image 8.0 to clone the OEM drive to a 7K60 drive in
a USB enclosure and the new drive is now functional (and f-a-s-t).

Worked so well, in fact, that Acronis just converted a
Ghost/Partitionmagic customer.

What a great resource is this list! (Thanks, Dennis.)
