I'm slowly and reluctantly replacing a couple of my lightly-used ThinkPad
600X/650MHz machines, and I would like to find a good home for them on this
list. Here is the first of (probably) two that I'll offer. I've put a lot of
care into these machines, and would prefer to sell them to people who will
actually use them instead of immediately reselling them.
Details as follows (between the dotted lines)
----------------------------------------
A ThinkPad 600X, 650MHz, RAM upgraded to 576MB (the maximum for the 600X),
and the hard disk replaced by a IBM TravelStar 20GB 5400rpm HDD (dated
2002). The ThinkPad itself is model 2645-5FU (S/N on request).
This is a very lightly-used machine with a perfect screen and nearly-new
keyboard. It was very lightly-used when I bought it, has been maintained
with great care, and still looks fresh and clean. The latest BIOS is
installed; there are absolutely NO passwords or BIOS customizations or
personalization data of any kind anywhere on the machine.
The hard disk has been wiped clean and formatted as a FAT32 partition; it
boots to FreeDOS with CD-ROM drivers already installed (in case you need to
to access a non-bootable CD for installing an OS or any other reason).
You'll presumably want to install your own OS; see the note below on the
included CD-R disk with IBM drivers.
Also included are the following:
An internal UltraSlimBay 6X DVD-ROM (also for CDs, of course).
An internal UltraSlimBay floppy disk drive.
An external enclosure for the floppy disk drive (allows you to use the
floppy and a CD/DVD at the same time).
An internal UltraSlimBay second battery (bought in a sealed box a few weeks
ago and used only briefly).
A working, but aging, main battery.
The original IBM AC adapter.
The original internal modem is installed.
Also included are two PC Cards for networking:
An Orinoco Silver 802.11b card (the Silver card supports
64-bit passwords only)
A Xircom RealPort CardBus Ethernet 10/100 card
(the kind that doesn't need a dongle).
Also, a CD-R disk to which I've copied (I think) all downloadable IBM
ThinkPad 600X drivers for Windows 98, 2000, and XP, plus manufacturers'
drivers for the Lucent and Xircom networking cards. (PLEASE note that this
is a CD-R DISK which I created on my desktop machine. A CD-writing drive is
NOT included in this offer. The included drive is a DVD-ROM that also reads
CDs but does NOT write them.)
THE FOLLOWING TWO ITEMS ARE OPTIONAL
(please take them only if you need them):
Selectabase 600 port replicator with key (never opened, sealed box, add $10
more for shipping). This can be used alone as a port replicator, or, when
combined with a SelectADock I, II, or III (NOT INCLUDED but available for a
few dollars on eBay) you can use it to create a fully-equipped desktop
machine, which is the way I use a 600X in my office. (I unplug the ThinkPad
and lock it in a file cabinet when I leave)
Internal UltraSlimBay 100MB ZIP drive.
-----------------------
With the additional memory and the 5400 rpm hard disk, this machine runs
notably faster than a stock 600X. With the RAM, HDD, and all the extras, I
think a fair price is $600 (INCLUDING Priority Mail shipping, US addresses
only, please). If you want the Selectabase 600, add $10 for shipping.
