The X series does not generally have the juice to run a self powered CD combo drive, if that helps

I don't know if the X30's USB port provides enough power, but if it doesn't,
then any self-powered (i.e. AC powered) USB hub will solve the problem. I
like this one for portable use:

You can use this mini USB hub either with or without its AC adapter. With
the AC adapter, it provides 500mA to each USB device.
There are also battery-powered USB hubs such as this one:

I didn't see anything indicating how much power this hub provides, though.
