The A31 does too, just install the battery maximizer
It is a dead battery, you can bet on it.
How on earth can anyone sell a battery as "looks in mint condition"?
What does that have to do with whether it takes a charge?
There was an outfit in upstate NY that had literally thousands of 600 series
batterys, sold to them as "good used".
EVERY ONE WAS DEAD.
Enough said.

ma; 10 ma, and even more, would be a trickle charge rather than a full
charge. It appears that the battery resistance is so high that only <10 ma
can get through. The low current leads to the low power (wattage) transfer.

contradict the above assertion and lead to the conclusion that the charger
in the laptop is damaged. I am not familiar with the R40 but if the voltage
of its battery is equal to or larger than 11.64v then the charger in the
laptop is damaged and in that case, the solution would be to purchase an
auxilliary charger (~$20.00). I personally have a number of 560s and one A31
and none of those give me the detailed information your R40 gives. I hope
those values are correct!
