[Thinkpad] creating DOT_00x printer port on 560x (Win98)?

Hello all
I'm almost to the point of getting a HP 2610 multifunction printer.
It should work over ethernet for most of the more modern computers but I
need to make it work with the solid state 560x.
The problem is that the full HP software package is 368 Mb and the solid
state 560x only has 123 Mb free on it's 800 Mb flash drive.
I think I've found a work around, the HP support site mentions using a
Deskjet 550c drive for troubleshooting. It wouldn't scan or fax but all
I need is printing. The only problem is that I to create a DOT4_00x
printer port as described below:

"Click the down-arrow where it reads, Print to the Following Port, and
select DOT4_00x port that the all-in-one software created."

Can I create such a printer port without using the HP install package?
Office Max says I can bring the Thinkpad in with the 550c driver loaded
to make sure it works but I need to create this port first.

Thanks
