Huh?
you don't need a modem patch to install memory.
If you don't have an internal modem, the modem software won't install.
Try switching memory slots, and check that the memory is compatible. Memory is not a software function, but you may want to update the BIOS, which is available on the IBM web site.

  Only acpdw9x.exe is a driver for internal modems. I
  don't have an internal modem. So the acpdw9x.exe setup
  fails.

  I've booted into Easy-Setup. Configuration/Memory
  shows 229376 KB Installed but only 163264 KB Usable.
  I've tried "Initialize" but that didn't help.

  I've searched the IBM website and Google for any more
  information or another patch.
  Seems odd that the only patch for this memory problem
  is included with a modem driver that not everyone can
  use.

  So any ideas, maybe a link to another patch that can
  be run without an internal modem, would be
  appreciated.
