I put RR on when I bought the T40.. uninstalled it (which reclaimed the
space), upgraded it,to Rapid Restore Ultra I think...
Didn't notice that the ability to uninstall was gone until this fall, when I
decided that backup was too old to be really usefull to me...
Personally I thought it was a great thing to be able to do... when I didn't
have an 8MegaPixel camera and didn't need the space... But now that getting
rid of it is difficult, I'd not recomend installing it.
None of this would be a problem if I had been able to get the system restore
disks from IBM, but I was out of the country and the person I asked to call
IBM for me got the runaround and never got the disks during the grace
period...
Anyone ever do a "factory restore"? I'm wodering if that function would
wipe the RR part of the hidden area out?

What version of RR do you have? That seemed to be an
issue with version 1.
I don't have an answer for the issue; I'm close to
installing RR but might just spring for a 2nd HD
instead.
